I love music!
It has been a source of encouragement for me all of my life, but especially in the hard season, like cancer and after the loss of our son, Jacob.
I remember sitting in the hospital bed, tears streaming down my face, as I sang the lyrics to a song we sang in church, Dennis Jernigan’s “You are my all in all”. To this day, that is a cherished memory in a bleak time of my life.
I was going through some old files a while back and came across a short playlist I’d created shortly after the accident that changed our lives forever:
- “Sweet Victory”, Trip Lee
- “War”, Trip Lee
- “Speak Life”, Toby Mac
- “Blessed Be Your name”, Matt Redmon
- “Beautiful Offering”, Big Daddy Weave
- “Home”, Chris Tomlin
- “There will be a day”, Jeremy Camp
- “You Keep Hope Alive”, Mandisa
- “Battle is the Lord’s”, Rebecca St. James
- “Who am I?’, Needtobreathe
- “Battle belongs”, Phil Wickham
- “Matter”, For King & Country
- “Thy will”, Hilary Scott
- “Jesus can”, Austin French
Over the years, there have lots of albums I’ve listened to on repeat too. Here’s a post I wrote about one of them: Need Hope That Things Will Get Better?
There have been many others like this one by Steven Curtis Chapman: Steven Curtis Chapman – Still
Or this one: TobyMac – Help Is On The Way (Maybe Midnight)
Really, though, these are just a sampling of my favorites. Music has helped Caleb and I heal so much that we create this list of our top songs since the accident: Jenny and Caleb’s Top Songs Since the Accident
Even that list—at 150 songs!—is not exhaustive. We continue to share songs back and forth with each other.
Here are a few posts I wrote about some of them:
