Jenny Leavitt Long Bio

Jenny Leavitt, an award-winning author, shares her family’s story of survival and growth after the tragic loss of their seventeen-year-old son to a drunk driver in her book GodPrints: Finding Evidence of God in the Shattered Pieces of Life.

Jenny grew up in northeast Florida, and met her high school sweetheart, Myron, through a church event in 1992. They were married not long after and began their family at a young age. After their second son was born, Jenny was diagnosed with Stage Four Non-Hodgkins lymphoma and endured chemotherapy and radiation treatments. She has been clear since November 1998.

Jenny and Myron faced many challenges during their thirty-year marriage, including a severe back injury that led to financial struggles and homelessness. Through it all, they found a faithful God walking with them.

Those reference points became crucial when the shattering, life-altering news came in: a drunk driver hit their sons and Jacob died at the scene. Caleb barely survived the night, but over time fought his way back to health and is now married to Crystal, an amazing young woman who loves Jesus.

As a pastor’s wife, she has witnessed God’s faithfulness through shattering loss in her own life and in the lives of countless hurting and broken people. Jenny is committed to spreading hope and healing through her writings, speaking, and online presence.

While her son Jacob is already home in heaven, her oldest son and his wife, Caleb and Crystal, make her proud with their love for Jesus and others.

Jenny loves a hot cup of peppermint tea in her sunflower-decked kitchen while reading a new historical fiction novel. She’s also traveled the world with Myron, her best friend and husband of thirty years. So far, they have only visited three continents, but almost all the fifty United States. They currently make their home in central Florida with a dog who thinks she’s a cat.

No. No. No. The state troopers had finally figured out where Jacob was—the morgue.

Would we lose Caleb too? Oh, God. Please, no. We can’t lose them both in one night.

“Grief is so hard, and yet it’s something we all experience. Through her own experience and walk with tragic loss and grief, she shares about a moment of while in her grief and planning her son’s funeral, she finds a poem/rap, and how her son’s writing talks about meeting Jesus face-to-face, as if he is given this gift of God’s prompting before his passing, and gave Jenny some peace in her grief. This episode is shorter in length, but doesn’t miss any amount of depth. For anyone who has experienced a loss of a child, or is experiencing grief, this episode is worth the listen!”
