With Mother’s Day fast approaching, my thoughts have turned to those of us moms who have heavy hearts due to grief. Some because we lost a child, as in my case. Others are now single moms because of widowhood, as is a new friend I recently met when she interviewed me on her podcast, The Hopecast.
Rachael Flick’s husband was killed in the line of duty as a police officer.
She is vulnerable, sensitive, and helpful to others as she chronicles her own grief journey and talks with others, like me, about their journey. (If you’re interested in hearing that recording, you can find it here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1326133/12578215)
That reminds me of another widow that I know of. Her name is Lisa Appello and she has also been a guest on the same iWitness podcast I was on with KellyJo Wilson.
How to see who God is through shattering loss – IW EP 005 with Lisa Appelo, Part 1
Lisa is a widow with a passion to help other widows. Her writing is not only beautiful and encouraging, but I really like the way she tries to offer practical help. That’s why, even though I’m not a widow, I’m on her email list.
She recently shared a very helpful list that I am passing along to any moms out there that need some hope as we lean into Mother’s Day soon.
What do you think, friend? Is there anything you would add to her list? Let us know in the comments below.
